ArcPad
LID ArcPad Application for analyzing LID retrofit opportunities in Anacostia River CSO Outfall 006, Washington, DC

The LID Center developed an ArcPad application to streamline the task of collecting and analyzing data on potential LID retrofit sites in the 006 study area. Working with baseline data such as aerial photography, streets, and property lines, the ArcPad user enters basic site information on two digital forms as they walk through the study area. The forms are intended to provide enough data to facilitate further analysis back at the office, but not demand so much information that data entry in the field becomes a chore. It should take about one minute to enter data for most sites. The result is a GIS point file that shows the location of each retrofit site and contains an associated database with the user-entered data. The point file can be opened and edited in other GIS applications such as ArcView, and its database can be exported to Excel and other spreadsheet or database programs. By using the ArcPad application, data needs to be entered only once – in the field – and the resulting data set is highly portable.
