This project was conducted in collaboration with the Capitol Hill Association of Merchants and Professionals (CHAMPS) to build an LID pilot project at a public facility in the community. The police station was selected as the signature project. The project included a rain garden and disconnection of the downspout. This was a unique design situation because of the proximity of the rain garden to the basement and security and maintenance concerns. Low maintenance and low profile native plants were selected and a liner was used to alleviate groundwater concerns. CHAMPS will maintain the facility as a public/private partnership with the police station.
