The actual design arrangement of a rain garden is highly flexible. The templates that are provided here are intended to show a range of styles and sizes for rain gardens in the home landscape. The templates are designed to show plants that are appropriate to the various environmental conditions that exist in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. If local plant availability is a problem, either mail order or careful substitutions may be made. If a substitution is made, the new plant should have the same general attributes as the plant it is replacing both in appearance and root structure.
