LID for Virginia Municipalities for Wetland and Waters of the U.S. Permits

The LID Center is developing a guidance document for use by local governments and the Regulatory Branch of the Norfolk District Army Corps of Engineers to use LID as an avoidance and mitigation tool for disturbances to wetlands and Waterways of the U.S. The goal of this effort is to develop a series of tools and protocols so that the benefits of using LID for recharge and reduction of hydrologic impacts can be quantified within the framework of the existing state regulations. The techniques and tools developed from this effort will be used by the Corps and the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality to negotiate Memorandums of Understanding with the local governments and developers for their general and individual permits.
